As business owners, we are often looking for the next best thing to grow, scale, create more revenue, and make our people happy. I’ve outlined below my top five ways to increase your revenue and your brands perceived value- as a result allowing you to charge more, make more, scale, and create a raving fan base.
This is all about the way you connect with and make your audience feel. Also, how EASY it is for your audience to navigate your customer journey, interact with your brand, and ultimately purchase from or hire you.
There are a few key ways to up-level your brand experience:
Great, prompt customer service
Personally connecting with your audience and showing you care
Special, unique touches (thank you notes or gifts)
Consistent, beautiful branding and packaging that they’ll want to share and photograph
Having a FOOL PROOF, easy to navigate process so that working with you is a breeze
A website that is gorgeous (duh) but also user friendly and guides the customer in the right direction
Going the extra mile to delight and surprise them (including unexpected bonuses just for the fun of it)
Create a process that is already mapped out ahead of time to save yourself re-inventing the wheel with each client (I use Asana and have process templates for each package I offer)
Create on-boarding guides (I use a proposal and welcome package). These help your client to a) feel secure in their decision to work with you, and b) better understand your process and expectations of them. Creating guides like this is lots of work up front, but will save you endless hours of back and forth emails!
Have a specific process for the way that you present your work and undergo refinement periods. I find that pre-recording my presentations works wonders to explain my work to clients as though we’re in the same room, helping them to feel supported and guided along the way.
Send deliverables in a way that is easy to navigate and understand for the client (most people don’t know what a PNG is!) I’ve recently started doing a recorded walk through of the package itself and where to find everything- which has also been working very well and resulted in virtually zero follow up questions about file types.
Did you know that when brands are consistently presented (meaning across their platforms, website, packaging, emails, collateral- ANYTHING customer facing), their revenue increases by an average of 23%?
And guys- that’s not even specifically QUALITY, BEAUTIFUL or STRATEGIC consistent branding. It’s just branding in GENERAL. Sooo, imagine how much more potential revenue increase their is when the company is investing in branding that is rooted in strategy & built for their people?!
Branding is very important, and under that umbrella, making sure that you’re consistently presenting your brand to the world is even more important.
So what are some ways to “consistently presenting your brand?”
Invest in professional branding
Refer to your brand guidelines/ strategy like the Bible (those colour codes are solid gold)
Make sure everything customer facing is branded (use brand colours and assets)
Define your message, mission, and values and make sure that they’re effectively communicated within every piece of material that’s created
Stick to a tone of voice and one brand personality in your messaging
This one is so, so, so important. I am ever so guilty of postponing content for fear of not having the most eloquent or relevant way of saying it, or worrying that no one will resonate or care with what I’m puttin’ down.
But you know what? WHO CARES!
At the end of the day, what your people care about is the fact that you showed up at all, because guess what, they’re YOUR PEOPLE. People who are already following and in your corner appreciate getting to know you more and whatever you have to say, even in it’s less than perfect form.
Showing up more frequently (especially with yo’ face) builds trust, familiarity, and helps people relate to you. The more you can speak about your products, message, talents, clients, projects etc. consistently and in an open and honest way, the more easily you’ll be able to build a community and as a result, perceived value and revenue.
My best piece of advice that I work through with my clients and I’ll give to you to work through as well; is to carefully define WHO your ideal client or customer is, and to be AS SPECIFIC as possible.
Brands will typically appeal to a wide range (eg.) age group of people. However, it’s very important when it comes to branding and messaging to NOT be trying to speak to everyone.
You know that quote that’s like you can’t be something to everyone but you can be everything to someone? It’s like that. The more specific that you’re able to get with your ideal persona, the more you’re able to craft your branding, marketing, messaging, and every single customer-facing decision around them.
When your ideal client or customer interacts with your brand and everything has been tailor made for an ideal customer persona that reflects their values and needs, they will feel like your brand was MADE for them. And THAT is what we want.
So, how is this going to affect your perceived value and revenue?
Well, once you do the work to define that ideal person and tailor your brand around them, you’re going to be able to catch their attention in a way that feels relatively effortless.
This strategy is going to make it much easier for you to build a community, and increase your sales, clients and revenue because you’ll automatically have the attention of the people who matter most; YOUR people.
